Is Lindt chocolate gluten free?

Hello, chocolate lovers! We love to find out about the gluten status of all sorts of delicious foods. Today, we are specifically researching whether Lindt chocolate is gluten free or not. So, is Lindt chocolate gluten free?

We’ve written about other types of chocolate too: Are Twix bars gluten free? | Are Butterfingers gluten free? | Is Kit Kat gluten free? | Are Snickers bars gluten free? Are Hershey’s kisses gluten free?

Do Lindt bars have gluten?

Sadly, many types of Lindt chocolate bars DO contain gluten. This is due to the fact that they have barley ingredients. If you’re new to eating gluten free, you may not know that barley contains gluten, and is therefore not safe for us to eat.

Do Lindt Lindor truffles have gluten?

Again, not the best of news! Most of Lindt’s truffles contain barley or cereal ingredients, making them off limits for us to eat if we are Celiac, or have a gluten intolerance or allergy.

According to the newest information I could find on the Lindt website, none of their chocolate products can be guaranteed to be gluten free. I’m assuming that’s because of cross contamination issues, because apparently certain Lindor truffles do not contain actual barley ingredients – such as their white chocolate truffles.

But if you’re Celiac, you should avoid Lindt chocolate altogether. Hopefully, Lindt will address this sometime in the future, so that we’ll all be able to enjoy delicious Lindt chocolate bars and truffles.
