We are confirmed Larabar fans around here! Larabars are simple snack bars made only of dates, nuts and dried fruit. Some varieties also have other additions, such as mini chocolate chips. Those are obviously our very favourite ones.
But do Larabars contain gluten?
I guess I gave away the answer by telling you how much I love these – but Larabars are totally gluten free! They are clearly marked as gluten free right on the box and the packaging of each individual bar.
The types I have tried and loved include the Peanut Butter, and the Peanut Butter Chocolate chip varieties. They honestly taste like a baked peanut butter bar, they are so amazingly delicious! This post has not been sponsored in any way, but I am that big a fan of these bars that I generally rave about them.
Are Larabars dairy free?
Yes they are. They do not contain any other ingredients except for dates, nuts and other types of additions like other dried fruits or sometimes chocolate chips. And even the chocolate chips are dairy free. Each package is clearly marked ‘Dairy Free.’
Are Larabars vegetarian? Are they vegan?
They are both vegetarian AND vegan! So if you are looking for a veggie bar that tastes great, but doesn’t contain any animal products whatsoever, then Larabars will work out well for you. As already mentioned the ingredients in Larabars are really simple: nuts, dates and dried fruit in general.
Are Larabars expensive?
They can be expensive, so I buy boxes of 16 at a time. I try to keep my purchase only to the times when the price is around $16 or so a box, or about $1 a bar. I haven’t often purchased them below that price point.
Buying Larabars individually can be way more expensive – I’ve seen them near the supermarket checkouts for $2.49 each or sometimes even more. So, if you can stock up on them and buy a larger box, it will save you money.
Are Larabars healthy?
I think that for a snack bar, Larabars are very healthy compared to other types of bars you can get that are packed with artificial flavours and preservatives. But, they still do contain sugar, so keep that in mind, especially if you need to limit your sugar intake due to health concerns like diabetes.
But Larabars also have protein and fiber in them, which increase the overall healthiness of them as a snack option.
And I like that they use real, whole ingredients. Many of their bar varieties only have 3 or 4 ingredients in the entire thing! That’s pretty rare when it comes to snack bars.
